This makes Georgia one of the most accessible and attractive destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, there is an important nuance. If your plans extend beyond a tourist trip, and you are going to stay in Georgia for more than a year - for study, work or other purposes that imply long-term residence, then the rules change. The basic rule of visa-free entry allows you to stay in the country continuously for a whole year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What to do if this year is coming to an end, and you don\u2019t want to leave sunny Georgia? There are two main ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. <strong>&quot;Visa Run&quot;: <\/strong>The most popular way to reset your stay is to simply leave Georgia for any neighboring country (such as Turkey or Armenia) and then immediately return. Upon re-entry, your annual visa-free stay counter will start counting again. This is a completely legal practice under current regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For example, popular checkpoints for visa runs are \u201cUpper Lars\u201d on the border with Russia, or border crossings with Turkey (Sarpi) and Armenia (Bagratashen, Guguti).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. <strong>Registration of a residence permit:<\/strong> If you plan to settle permanently in Georgia, work here or have other compelling reasons for long-term residence, it is worth considering obtaining a residence permit. This is a more complicated process, requiring the collection of certain documents, but it eliminates the need for regular &quot;visa runs&quot;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The main categories of residence permits include work, study, family, investment, and residence permits for the purchase of real estate. Some sources and official agencies insist that this is the only correct document. There are cases when families with children included in the parent&#039;s passport were not allowed through at the border. Therefore, to avoid stress and possible problems, a separate passport for a child is the best choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Entry in the parent&#039;s passport:<\/strong> Theoretically, children under 14 can be entered in a parent&#039;s passport (only the old model, not biometric). Some tourists have successfully entered with such documents. But, as already mentioned, this is a less reliable option, and border guards may require a separate document for the child. If you do go this way, be sure to take the child&#039;s birth certificate with you - it may be needed to confirm kinship, especially if you have different surnames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consent to leave:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If a child is traveling with one parent, a notarized consent for departure from the other parent is not required (unless the other parent has officially banned the child from leaving). But just in case, it wouldn&#039;t hurt to have a birth certificate and internal Russian passports with you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If a child is traveling without parents (with a grandparent, coach, other relatives, or alone), then it is necessary to obtain a notarized consent for travel from one of the parents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"pravila\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u0412\u0430\u0436\u043d\u044b\u0435 \u043f\u0440\u0430\u0432\u0438\u043b\u0430 \u0438 \u043e\u0433\u0440\u0430\u043d\u0438\u0447\u0435\u043d\u0438\u044f \u043d\u0430 2026 \u0433\u043e\u0434<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ban on entry through Abkhazia and South Ossetia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Remember this as the most important rule: entering Georgia from Abkhazia or South Ossetia is strictly prohibited. From the point of view of Georgian legislation, this is considered an illegal border crossing, since Tbilisi does not recognize the independence of these republics and considers these territories part of Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Consequences:<\/strong> Violating this rule can lead to very serious problems: a large fine (up to 5,000 GEL, which is more than 160,000 rubles), denial of entry to Georgia in the future, and in some cases even criminal liability and imprisonment for up to 5 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stamps in the passport: Although Russian border guards do not usually stamp the border crossing with Abkhazia, if for some reason such a stamp (or a stamp from South Ossetia) appears in your passport, it is almost guaranteed to result in a refusal of entry into Georgia. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to visit Abkhazia on an internal Russian passport and avoid any marks in the passport. Legal entry into Georgia for Russians is possible only through international checkpoints - airports or the Verkhniy Lars checkpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
