    May 6th Park is one of the oldest in Georgia; it was founded back in 1881. Originally, the park was called Alexander Park, in honor of the Russian Emperor Alexander III. By the way, the emperor even visited the park in person in 1888 and planted trees here together with his wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The park received its current name in memory of the events of May 6, 2004, when a revolution took place in Adjara, leading to the resignation of the local leader Aslan Abashidze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
