The history of the botanical garden in Batumi began in the late 19th century. The main inspiration and founder was the outstanding Russian botanist Andrei Nikolaevich Krasnov. It was he who chose the picturesque slope near Cape Green Cape (Mtsvane Kontskhi) and proposed to create a unique garden here, where plants from different climatic zones would be collected.
