A cable car about 500 meters long that lifts passengers from Rike Park to Narikala Fortress in two minutes.
The Narikala Cable Car is one of the most popular modes of transport and simultaneously one of the prime attractions in Tbilisi. The modern line connects Rike Park on the left bank of the Kura with the observation deck at Narikala Fortress on the crest of the Sololaki Ridge. The cable car opened in 2012, and its construction was carried out by the Italian company Leitner Ropeways. The length of the route is about 500 meters, and the trip takes about two minutes.
During the ascent, the cabins pass over the Kura River, old quarters of Tbilisi, and slopes built up with traditional houses with wooden balconies. Metekhi Church, Rike Park, the Bridge of Peace, the sulfur baths district, and Narikala Fortress are particularly well visible from here. The cabins are equipped with panoramic windows, so the cable car has long become not only a convenient way to go up the mountain, but also one of the city's best observation decks.
Travel uses the Metromoney card, the same transport card valid on the metro, buses, and other city transit in Tbilisi. You can purchase it at the cable car station. The cost of a one-way trip is 2.5 GEL, and the upper station is located near Narikala Fortress, the 'Mother of Georgia' monument, and one of the city's most popular viewpoints.
