An architectural structure 130 meters high, decorated with letters of the Georgian alphabet. A symbol of the richness of the Georgian language and culture.
One of the most recognizable and futuristic symbols of modern Batumi is the Alphabet Tower (or ABC Tower). This 130-meter-tall architectural landmark rises in the “Park of Miracles” on the embankment. The Alphabet Tower is not just a high-rise structure, but a profound tribute to the unique Georgian alphabet and language. Its design imitates the structure of the double helix of DNA: two metal bands wrap around the structure, carrying all 33 letters of the Georgian alphabet. This concept visually embodies the idea that language is the genetic code of a nation.
Inside the tower are two panoramic elevators that take visitors to the top, crowned by a huge sphere made of glass triangles. Initially, a television studio and an observatory were planned here, but the main attractions were the observation deck, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of Batumi, the mountains, the Black Sea and the restaurant in the tower. On the fifth floor of the sphere is a massive 50-ton damper, which dampens the vibrations of the structure.
Although the restaurant and elevators to the observation deck (access is paid) are not always stable, the Alphabet Tower remains a landmark and one of the most photographed attractions in Batumi, which has no analogues in the world. It looks especially impressive in the evening, when the bright lighting is turned on, emphasizing its unusual structure and glowing letters.
