Batumi sea port

The Batumi Sea Port is not only the most important transport and logistics hub of the Caucasus region, but also one of the largest and deepest ports in the eastern part of the Black Sea. Its strategic location in the south-east of the Black Sea coast makes it a key link connecting the South Caucasus and Central Asia with Europe, playing an important role in the Eurasian transport corridor. The history of the port is closely linked with oil: having begun its development in 1885 as a key point for the transportation of Baku oil, it quickly became one of the leading ports of the Black Sea, receiving the highest category in the USSR in 1923.

Today it is a modern, high-tech complex occupying an area of more than 22 hectares. The port is equipped with 11 berths, specialized terminals for oil and oil products, dry cargo, containers, as well as a berthing complex for ferries. In addition to its main industrial function, the Batumi port is also important for maritime tourism. The modern passenger terminal is capable of receiving up to 180,000 passengers per year and serves as a parking lot for international cruise liners.

The historic building of the sea terminal and the yacht and boat harbour, beautifully illuminated at night, have become a popular tourist attraction, adding charm to the coastal panorama of Batumi. The Batumi seaport continues to develop dynamically, remaining a vital artery for the region's economy and an attractive object for visitors to the city.
