A picturesque canyon in western Georgia, located near the town of Martvili, approximately 50 km west of Kutaisi.
Martvili Canyon is one of the most impressive natural attractions of Georgia, located in the municipality of the same name. This canyon is a deep gorge along the bottom of which flows the Abasha River. Over millions of years, the river carved its way through limestone rock, creating an astounding landscape of cascading waterfalls, moss-covered sheer cliffs, and turquoise water.
The canyon is divided into two sections: Upper and Lower. In the Upper Canyon, visitors can enjoy a picturesque boat ride along the Abasha River. Guides lead tourists through the narrow gorge, where one can view majestic cliffs and small waterfalls. The Lower Canyon, in turn, offers a hiking route with well-maintained paths and observation decks offering breathtaking views.
To visit the canyon, you must purchase an admission ticket. The ticket price for adults is 20 GEL, for children and students 5.50 GEL. The boat tour is paid separately and costs 20 GEL per person. Children under 100 cm in height (up to 3-4 years old) are not allowed on the boat. If traveling with an infant or young child, one parent will need to stay ashore. Martvili Canyon is located about 50 kilometers from Kutaisi, making it a convenient destination for a day trip. This place is ideal for nature lovers and beautiful photos.
