A picturesque mountain lake surrounded by green meadows and mountains, located at an altitude of 1560 meters above sea level.
Lake Karagoli is a lesser-known but very beautiful alpine lake in Georgia, located on the Gomareti plateau in the Kvemo Kartli region, Dmanisi Municipality, near Sovel Ganakhleba village. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 1560 meters above sea level. This is a small freshwater lake with crystal-clear water, surrounded by boundless green meadows and pastures. Several other sparsely visited alpine lakes are situated nearby: Laylagiol, Tambulgiol, Kaynegoli, and Chamli Goli, which can be visited in one day on foot or by bicycle.
Lake Karagoli is ideally suited for nature lovers, hiking trails, and secluded rest. Here you can arrange a picnic and take beautiful photos. There is no infrastructure at the lake: no cafes, toilets, or official campsites. Therefore, it is important to bring water and food along.
The best time to visit the lake is from May to September, especially in summer when dry weather prevails and the scenery looks most vivid. A full day should be allocated for a trip to the lake and exploring neighboring water bodies. You can reach the lake by car or minibus to Sovel-Ganakhleba village, and then on foot or by bicycle to the lake itself. Lake Karagoli is a unique spot for those seeking serenity, harmony with nature, and picturesque views far from mass tourism.
