A park featuring a skatepark, bars, and food trucks on the Mtkvari embankment.
Dedaena Park is located in the center of Tbilisi, next to the Dry Bridge. Today it is a popular public space: a professional skate park operates here, food trucks are set up, and bars and lounge areas are open. The park is especially popular with young people: they come here to skate, socialize, and spend time by the water.
In the center of the park stands the Deda Ena Monument, one of the city's main symbolic landmarks. It is dedicated to the Georgian language and the primer of the same name, from which students have learned for more than 150 years. Nearby, you can also see other contemporary art objects, including an installation honoring musician Irakli Charkviani.
The park was created in the Soviet era on the site of a drained riverbed of the Mtkvari. It received its name after the events of 1978, when mass demonstrations took place here to preserve Georgian as the official state language. Today it is not only historic, but also one of the most vibrant urban spaces.
