Confluence of Chorokhi and Adjaristskali Rivers

The confluence of the Chorokhi and Adjaristskali rivers is one of the most breathtaking natural spectacles in Adjara, situated about 20 kilometers from Batumi, near Keda/Khelvachauri. Here you will witness an astounding natural phenomenon: the waters of the turquoise Chorokhi and the turbid, brownish Adjaristskali merge yet do not immediately mix, creating a vivid visual seam against the backdrop of lush green mountains.

Reaching this spot is fairly simple. By car from Batumi, it takes about 30 minutes along the Batumi-Khulo road. There is a convenient stop with a good viewpoint. You can also take minibus No. 77 from the Old Batumi Bus Station to the 'Adjaristskhali' stop, and then walk about 800-900 meters to the confluence point. This location is often included in popular tours of 'Highland Adjara' along with Makhuntseti Waterfall, Gvara Fortress, and other attractions.

The best time to visit the confluence of the rivers is from May to October. During this period, the road is clear, visibility is good, and the rivers are full-flowing after seasonal rains or melting snow. Visiting on days with clear skies is recommended to observe the maximum contrast and enjoy the vivid spectacle in sunny illumination. Arriving in the morning will help avoid crowds of tourists and provide clean air.
