A five-star historic hotel on Rustaveli Avenue, located in the 1915 building of the former Majestic Hotel.
Tbilisi Marriott Hotel is one of the most famous and prestigious hotels in Tbilisi. It is located in a historic building on Rustaveli Avenue and occupies the former Majestic Hotel, built in 1915. Today it is a five-star hotel of the international Marriott chain with more than 120 rooms and suites, restaurants, bars, conference rooms, and a fitness center.
The history of the building began at the start of the 20th century, when Armenian oil industrialist and philanthropist Mikael Aramyants decided to build the city’s most modern and prestigious hotel in Tiflis. The project was designed by architects Aleksandr Ozerov and Gabriel Ter-Mikelov. Following Soviet nationalization, the hotel operated under the name "Tbilisi" and welcomed foreign tourists, diplomats, and official delegations. In various years, John Steinbeck, Jean-Paul Sartre, and George Balanchine stayed here.
The building is considered one of the finest examples of early 20th-century urban architecture in Tbilisi. The facade combines elements of Renaissance and Baroque: massive columns, stucco moldings, ornamental pediments, and balustrades. Thanks to a smooth curvature, the facade follows the line of Rustaveli Avenue and remains one of the most recognizable structures in the historical center of the city.
