A picturesque waterfall and monument dedicated to the apostle who was the first to bring Christianity to Georgia.
Andrew the First-Called Waterfall is one of the unusual and memorable natural attractions near Batumi. It is located in southwestern Georgia, just 12 kilometers from the city center and literally a 10-minute walk from the border with Turkey, near the resort village of Sarpi. The main feature of this place is its accessibility: the waterfall is located right by the highway leading to the Sarpi checkpoint, so you can see it even during a regular trip.
The main feature of this place is not only the scenic stream of water flowing down the slope, but also the monumental sculptural composition dedicated to the Apostle Andrew the First-Called, who, according to tradition, stepped onto Georgian soil right here and began preaching Christianity. The monument was inaugurated in 2008 and became a symbol of spiritual path and enlightenment for the region. Legend has it that the Apostle Andrew built the first Christian church here and ordained the first Georgian priests.
