Church of Joachim and Anna

The construction of the small but charming Church of Saints Joachim and Anna began in 1998 on the initiative and blessing of the then Bishop of Batumi and Skhalta Dimitri. And already in 1999 the construction was completed, and Dimitri personally consecrated the new temple.

Despite its relative youth, the church is skillfully made of stone in the spirit of traditional Georgian shrines, creating the illusion of antiquity. Its compact size gives it a special coziness and charm. It is a quiet, modest place that serves as a wonderful backdrop for photographs and encourages quiet reflection. Although access to the interior is often limited and the doors can be closed, which envelops the temple in an aura of mystery, some visitors have managed to look inside. They note the peaceful atmosphere, the play of light, elegant icons and stained glass.

The Church of Saints Joachim and Anna is a reminder of spiritual traditions and a quiet island of peace in the modern urban development of Batumi. Church sacraments such as weddings and baptisms are also held here.
