Former wedding palace, now a private residence and event venue with unusual Soviet modernist architecture.
Palace of Rituals is located on the bank of the Kura near the center of Tbilisi. Today it is a closed private property, also known as the "Palace of Arkadi." Access inside is possible only by prior appointment as part of rare architectural tours. From the outside, the building can be viewed freely: a green garden is laid out around it.
The main feature is the unusual shape of the building with smooth, 'cosmic' lines and a tall tower reminiscent of a bell tower. The architecture combines features of a secular building and a temple, and the palace itself is often compared to the works of Le Corbusier and Oscar Niemeyer. It is one of the most recognizable examples of late Soviet modernism in Tbilisi.
The building was constructed in 1985 as the Wedding Palace to the design of architects Victor Djorbenadze and Vazha Orbeladze. After closing in the 1990s, it was purchased by businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili and turned into a private residence, preserving the primary interiors and layout.
