An exhibition complex of Soviet modernism with pavilions, a park, and mosaics from the 1960s-1970s.
ExpoGeorgia Exhibition Center - an exhibition center opened in 1961 on the site of a former fruit and berry nursery. The complex was designed by architect Leonid Mamaladze. The pavilions were built gradually, and today there are 11 of them on the grounds. The architecture is executed in the Soviet modernist style: the buildings have simple forms, large panoramic windows, and are connected to the surrounding park.
Large-scale mosaics from the 1960s–1970s have been preserved on the facades of the pavilions. Among them are a panel on the "Construction and Architecture" building and a mosaic on the "Mechanical Engineering, Instrument Making and Transport" pavilion dedicated to science and space. Modernist sculptures and a greenhouse pavilion with a geodesic dome are also located on the grounds.
Admission to the grounds is free: you can walk around the park and between pavilions to view everything from the outside free of charge. If you want to go inside the pavilions, you will need to buy an exhibition ticket.
