The highest and most scenic in Adjara.
Makhuntseti Waterfall is one of the most impressive and popular natural spots near Batumi. It is located approximately 30-32 kilometers from the city, in picturesque mountainous Adjara, and is considered the highest waterfall in the region: according to various sources, its height reaches from 30 to 50 meters. Powerful jets of water plunge from sheer cliffs into a stone bowl, creating coolness even on the hottest day and filling the air with freshness.
Makhuntseti Waterfall is easily accessible for tourists: it is only about 100 meters from the highway, and the road is well equipped. Souvenir shops, cafes with Georgian cuisine dishes operate near the waterfall, and various activities are offered, including rafting along the Acharistskali River and horseback riding.
A special ambiance is created by proximity to the ancient arched bridge of Queen Tamar, which is over a thousand years old. Cafes and stalls operate near the waterfall, where you can sample local honey, churchkhela, jam, and other Georgian sweets. It gets crowded during the season, but you can always find a secluded spot to rest or have a picnic in nature.
In spring Makhuntseti is particularly full of water and majestic, in summer the flow becomes slightly calmer, but the cool water attracts those wishing to refresh themselves or even swim in the natural basin at the base of the waterfall. For active recreation enthusiasts, rafting on the Adjaristskali River and a zipline are available, while in the surrounding area you can find an ethnographic museum and scenic hiking trails.
